1796 John Whitney Walter/Stack's/Landis proof of concept Timothy's collection

It was time to pick out a couple of items from my own supply for something interesting...and to try and compensate for losing an entire week of work to the ice storm here in Arkansas!

I cannot possibly describe everything as accurately as the article Ron wrote for the Stack's Auction Catalogue (May 4, 1999), so I will include a high-resolution scan of that article and catalog cover with the sale.

Basically "we" (read Ron) proved that this famous half-cent was created using an off-center spoiled large cent as a host blank, rather than the piece just being a simple off-strike of large cent dies on a half-cent host.
