Type 1&2 1796 Cracked Die Half cent set

We always try to reproduce the original coins as authentically as possible. There is a rare and treasured variety of the 1796 Half Cent no pole that was cracked during production and fewer than 26 pieces survive. We were already reproducing the Half Cents of that year, so of course we took a stab at this one.
A simple engraved line would not suffice.
The first attempt failed and cracked too much (Type 1), but it proved our idea which was accomplished in the second attempt (Type 2), which we made into our limited production offering.
Without giving away our secrets, these were struck on a fully cracked die that we contained in a collar to keep the pieces together for production.
As always, our reproductions were made to the exact size, weight, and material as the originals. Struck on a screw press using hand sunk dies.
The only way for a reproduction to be as close to the original as possible is to make the exactly like the originals.
