1794 "Pattern" Dollar in Silver

1794 "Pattern" Dollar in Silver

$320.00Price

We struck 794 of these in copper. Only one exists in the Smithsonian collection without stars and is usually referred to as a pattern. It’s different than the regular issue 1794 silver dollars as it has no stars. Also, the cheeks on the copper pattern are puffier than what’s seen on the circulating dollars. Ron believes that die was used as the master die for the short lived Flowing Hair dollars. When a positive hub was raised from that die, a few touch ups were made including thinning down Lady Liberty’s cheek. Ten silver pieces were struck to include in the GMM archive sets. There might be a very small handful that exist outside those sets.
