.999 fine silver. This was Gallery Mint’s first attempt at a reproduction that was actually a Bicentennial commemorative of America’s first silver dollar.
We learned a lot on our first go at a reproduction coin. Ron was experimenting with different finishes and this one was struck from a sandblasted die that is way too frosty. A small run was produced before he re-blasted the dies with glass beads, thus producing more of a matte proof finish.
Lettered edge reads “BICENTENNIAL OF THE FIRST US SILVER DOLLAR”
